"Since when does the First Order work with a half-rate slicer like Finwej? It looks like we have a fraud on our—"
―Mek Nu'Tiv[src]

Finwej was a male slicer.[1] Sometime between 32 ABY and 34 ABY,[2] the smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca acquired First Order codes from Finwej in order to steal a data archive from the trader Mek Nu'Tiv, as he was the only slicer they could afford to pay. The smugglers met with Nu'Tiv, disguised as officers of the First Order, and the trader recognized Finwej's codes. Nu'Tiv, who believed that Finwej was an inadequate slicer and doubted that the First Order would work with him, denounced Solo as a fraud.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Finwej was first mentioned in Poe Dameron Annual 2, a comic written by Jody Houser and published by Marvel Comics[1] on August 29, 2018.[3]

Notes and references[edit | edit source]

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 Poe Dameron Annual 2
  2. Poe Dameron Annual 2 is set after the formation of Black Squadron in Poe Dameron 1, but prior to the events of Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary places the formation of Black Squadron to two years before the events of The Force Awakens, which Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates to 34 ABY. Therefore, the events of Poe Dameron Annual 2, including the mention of Finwej, must take place between 32 ABY and 34 ABY.
