A firecracker mine was a type of space mine used to disorient enemy starships. Deployed in groups, a firecracker mine emitted an intense burst of light, noise, and radiation when it exploded. Starships caught in the blast had their sensors and comm units suppressed, and their crews could be disoriented. Firecracker mines were sold for 400 credits.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Firecracker mines were first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in No Disintegrations,[1] a 2017 supplement for the Star Wars: Edge of the Empire roleplaying game published by Fantasy Flight Games.[2] They originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, and first appeared in Tyrant's Test,[3] a novel written by Michael P. Kube-McDowell and published by Bantam Spectra on December 1, 1996.[4]
