A floating pond was a type of conveyance that, by the time of the Galactic Civil War, had come into common use by members of the aquatic Iyra species when traveling on land. The vehicle consisted of a pool of water mounted on a repulsorsled. The rider submerged him- or herself in the liquid and relied upon the sled's repulsorlift for mobility.
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
Floating ponds are mentioned as a means for Iyra to move about on land in the sourcebook Galaxy Guide 4: Alien Races, Second Edition, part of the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game line from West End Games that was published in 1994. Although this version of the book is an update by author Chuck Truett of the previous edition, written by Troy Denning and published in 1989, the information about floating ponds is unique to the update.
