The floonorp was a type of musical wind instrument. It consisted of a cylindrical body with a tubular mouthpiece extending along and then above one side. It made use of keys and elaborate tubes of varying materials to create a range of sounds. In the year 32 BBY, a Quarren musician playing as part of a band in the stands of the Mos Espa Grand Arena on the planet Tatooine used a metal floonorp during the Boonta Eve Classic podrace.
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
A floonorp first appeared as a prop in the 1999 prequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. The prop was not named in the film, but received identification in the 2017 reference book Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia, which was written by Adam Bray, Tricia Barr and Cole Horton.
