"I am looking for people who like my kind of work."
"What kind is that?"
"Hunting."
―Marda Ro and Fori Nagor[2]

Fori Nagor was a female Twi'lek who was born by around 407 BBY. Around 381 BBY, she visited a public house in the oldest settlement on the planet Dantooine. There, she noticed the Evereni pirate leader Marda Ro and became startled when she recognized Ro's species. When the Evereni woman left the public house, Nagor followed her into an alley where Ro was waiting for the Twi'lek. She confronted Nagor and offered her a position in her pirate group. Nagor accepted the offer and worked alongside the human Milan Stor.

At some point no earlier than 379 BBY, Nagor, Stor, and the Kessurian partners Esstrop and Kortanio who also served Ro attacked a refugee camp. Capturing the refugees, they brought them to Ro's ship, the Gaze Electric, where Nagor presented them to her leader. Ro was enraged at the marauders for capturing other beings and ordered Nagor to let them go at the next spaceport with the exception of a green-skinned man. She also threatened the Twi'lek to never capture others again and told Nagor that if she wants more raiders, she can simply recruit them.

Nagor would go on to recruit more pirates, and some time later her team was involved in a firefight with a system security, during which two of Nagor's raiders perished. Later, Ro mentioned the Twi'lek in journal entries she recorded for her descendants, which her great-great-grandson Marchion Ro had listened to by 252 BBY.

Biography[]

Meeting Marda Ro[]

"I've heard stories about you. Your people."
"What do you want?"
"I want to touch you."

Fori Nagor was a female Twi'lek[2] who was born by around 407 BBY.[1] Around 381 BBY,[4] Nagor was present in the oldest settlement on the planet Dantooine and visited a public house in the settlement. She was in the public house when Marda Ro—the Evereni[2] founder of a group of pirates who would eventually become the Nihil[5]—visited it during[2] her[6] search for others of her species. While passing by Ro, Nagor recognized her as an Evereni. She stopped for a moment and her eyes widened before she continued walking again.[2]

When Ro left the public house, Nagor followed her into an alley, stopping when she noticed Ro was standing still and facing her direction. Ro drew a stave wrapped in mynock leather against her and confronted Nagor, asking what she wants. Nagor explained that she had heard stories about Evereni and was only interested in touching Ro. Ro then offered her a position in her band of pirates. Nagor accepted the offer in exchange for a kiss and was taken by Ro aboard her ship, the Gaze Electric.[2]

Nagor became one of Ro's raiders, and worked alongside the human Milan Stor. The two used her ship to work and looked for opportunities to smuggle or steal things. Sometimes, they would carry out larger raids with the help of the Kessurian partners Esstrop and Kortanio.[2]

Capture of refugees[]

"What did they expect me to do with people? Sell them? To the Hutts? I could not trust prisoners or let them loose on my ship. I could not—I did not—one thing I would not take was freedom."
―Marda Ro, in her journal[2]

They conducted one such attack[2] at some point no earlier than 379 BBY,[7] raiding a refugee camp. The refugees lacked any valuable posessions, so as a result the marauders decided to take the refugees themselves instead. Once they returned to the Gaze Electric, Nagor took the captured refugees to the Gaze's throne hall. She presented the refugees to Ro, who stared at them and was furious at the actions of Nagor and the other raiders.[2]

Ro asked the refugees whether any of them had the ability to use the Force and while she waited for an answer, her assistant Alirya walked over to kneel next to Ro. Receiving no answer from the refugees, Ro threatened them with leaving their fate up to the raiders who worked for her and a green-skinned man ended up confessing to being Force-sensitive. Ro announced to the other refugees that they can join her group if they wish so, otherwise they will be freed at the next spaceport, then walked over to Nagor and ordered her to never capture other beings again, threatening her with a knife against her lekku. She reluctantly agreed and led the refugees away, leaving only Ro, Alirya, and the man in the throne hall. After Nagor left, Ro then took the man to the Great Leveler, a monster that fed on the Living Force.[2]

Leading a team and legacy[]

"Fori lost two of her team in a firefight, escaping from some cheap system security."
―Marda Ro, in her journal[2]

At some point after the incident with the refugees, Nagor found herself leading a team of raiders for Ro. The team ended up in a fight against a system security, and two of the team's members died while escaping the security. As a consequence, the Gaze was taken away from known systems and Ro's group laid low for a while. The team was still active by the time Ro threw a feast in the throne hall during the Evereni twins Vika and Velya Faer's stay with the pirates and a member of the team baked finger cakes for the occasion. Later, Ro made a recording for her descendants, where she mentioned Nagor.[2] By 252 BBY,[8] during his youth, Ro's great-great-grandson Marchion Ro had listened to her journal, including the entries where Nagor was mentioned.[6]

Personality and traits[]

"Do not bother me with this sort of thing again. If you want to recruit, recruit. I am not interested in sentient prizes."
"Fine."
―Marda Ro and Fori Nagor[2]

Nagor had pink skin and a scar on her forehead. Her teeth were sharp, but less so than Evereni teeth. During her first meeting with Ro her lips were painted black.[2] Nagor was slightly taller than Ro, who measured 1.68 meters (5 ft 6 in),[3] but only due to her lekku. She was the first person brought aboard the Gaze Electric by Ro who had never heard about the Path of the Open Hand—a cult Ro used to be a member of. Nagor did not have any qualms regarding the concept of slavery and had no issues taking away refugees against their will,[2] despite her species' history of enslavement.[9]

Equipment[]

"She was dressed like any trader or smuggler: jumpsuit, plentiful pockets, straps for weapons and tools and bags. Her lekku were wrapped at the base with dark lace."
―Marda Ro, in her journal[2]

Nagor wrapped her lekku with a dark lace at their base. She wore clothing typical for traders and smugglers—a jumpsuit with numerous pockets and straps for weapons and tools—and possessed a blaster. Fori also owned a ship.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Fori Nagor appeared in flashbacks in the short story "A Closed Fist Has No Claws," written by Tessa Gratton and published in the 2023 young-adult anthology The High Republic: Tales of Light and Life as a part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project.[2]

Notes and references[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 The High Republic: Path of Deceit states that members of the Path of the Open Hand receive full membership at the age of fifteen, and also mentions that Marda Ro recently became a full member. As Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia dates the events of Path of Deceit to 382 BBY, Ro must have been born around 397 BBY. "A Closed Fist Has No Claws" states that Fori Nagor is at least a decade older than Ro, therefore she must have been born by around 407 BBY.
