Heya all. Following up on Forum:SH:Interviews, emails and other interactions between editors and creators. It kinda got bumped a whole lot of times, died in SH, but even before that I'd say we've been trying to get this revamp done for roughly at least a year now. As Nano's not present and has lurked off for awhile, forwarding this onward to CT—we do sort of need it, as a core policy that's so out of date it almost entirely relies on IRC, so at some point it just needed to be pushed forward as a proposal.
The main proposal text is found here, based on the SH feedback. In addition to that however the following would occur if this passed:
- Rename from just Wookieepedia:Interviews to Wookieepedia:Interview and creator interaction policy.
- Grandfather in all old interviews and current email screenshots and message transcripts uploaded before the date of this CT starting. Deemed "Legacy" by the new policy, in a subsection.
- Establish Forum:Social Media Team noticeboard (SMTNB) in the style of Forum:Administrators' noticeboard. May be used to reach the team with concerns, interview requests, or otherwise, with a note that the team can also be reached via Discord. Interview requests may be archived if deemed not possible at the moment (whether due to LFL, lack of response from creator, lack of method to contact creator, or simply lack of interest from an available SMT member that that time). And a note that more sensitive topics may also be raised via consultation in Discord.
- Legacy Paperwork — adopt:
- Category infrastructure proposed on the SH, basically just renaming a ton of old pages to something a bit more logical.
- Create Wookieepedia:Email and direct message screenshots in the style of the Social media screenshots page (with a table, to be filled in over time).
- WP:SMT: The "Point of contact" section on Wookieepedia:Social Media Team would receive a new bullet on the bottom reading: "Social Media Team members are responsible for accepting forwarded email receipts from conversations involving Star Wars creators and Wookieepedians when sent to the team's email, for the purposes of using those conversations as citations on Wookieepedia, pursuant to the interview and creator interaction policy."
Not in this proposal, to be handled later in a subvote lest this get too complex:
- SW creators with their own Fandom accounts, and how to handle limited self-sourcing. Will bring forward eventually, but this is already long enough (even if its had ample time for feedback).
