The result of the debate was Trash compactor. - Sikon 13:40, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
The name "votes for deletion" emphasizes the wrong idea that not only are votes the preferred method for gathering consensus (which they aren't), but they're binding by the vote count, which is the single determining factor. This was the reasoning behind Wikipedia's decision to rename "Votes for deletion" to "Articles for deletion".
However, as we put templates, categories and other pages on VFD, not just articles, I suggest renaming it to Pages for deletion. - Sikon 15:03, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Added: on second thought, as pointed out on IRC:
<GreenTentacle> LucidFox: I'd actually prefer a name which indicates more than just deletion. <LucidFox> true <GreenTentacle> It could be used to propose merges a lot more.

- I agree with this in principle, but I'd just like to ask: what other clear way do we have for determining consensus? I think voting at least gives us a definite breakdown of what the consensus is, and if there is one. And pretty much everything is going to come down to a vote at some point anyway. At least that's how I see it. So, for reiteration, if voting isn't the "preferred method", what is? Wildyoda 05:17, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

- Sounds good. - Sikon 06:25, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- There's only one title that would encompass everything we could do with the vote. "Things someone has a problem with". Havac 06:53, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- Something Star Wars related would be nice. Inquisitorius is taken, so I can't think of anything. Chack Jadson 18:31, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- If you want something SW-related, after a quick search I came up with a few (note: these are suggestions, please don't hurt me!): Renik, Ubiqtorate, and Genoharadan. Of course, if those don't work, you could just pick Evar Orbus and His Galactic Wailers… -Solus (Bird of Prey) 20:24, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- I like the Pages Under Scrutiny concept. Thinking of something SW-related: Pages Requiring Code Clearance (eh...) or Senate Proposals (better). - Esjs(Talk) 22:12, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- Or maybe CommitteeMitteeMittee! Senate Proposals sounds good but is too vague; could be another name for Consensus Track for all anybody knows. Let's use Articles for Deletion, like Wikipedia does. It's clear enough, and anybody who hangs around here for five minutes oughta realize how few hardcore deletionists there are. Gonk (Gonk!) 01:15, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
