Which is provides better protection against blaster fire, Phase I clone trooper armor or stormtrooper armor? Everything I've read says Phase I clone trooper armor is the heavier armor but the tone of the two articles makes it seem as if stormtrooper armor is vastly superior.63.230.49.154 23:07, April 4, 2011 (UTC)
- Depends on the source. As for heavier being better, this isn't necessarily important. Chainmail is heavier than kevlar but the latter offers better shrapnel protection. Karohalva 23:16, April 4, 2011 (UTC)
I ment heavier as in classification, not literally.63.230.49.154
- That's my point. Is Phase-I heavier or heavier? Karohalva 00:15, April 5, 2011 (UTC)
- I'm inclined to belive that stormtrooper armor is better by virtue of being made laterDarth Bal 19:43, June 22, 2011 (UTC)
- Really, really...darth bal? I think that the clone trooper armor is better...way better, Not that I watch TCWs series much but I think when hevy was shot that many times in the back and survived to push the detonator but a stormtrooper died by their own puny blaster in just one shot in the back!!! - Because stormtroopers are encased in armor, thereby halting visual confirmation, we cannot presume every hit stormtrooper is dead. Unless specific circumstances preclude any doubt. Karohalva 05:37, June 24, 2011 (UTC)
As far as the statement that the stormtrooper armor is better because it is newer I'd like to point to tie-fighters as an example of just-because-newer-technology-is-availible-doesn't-mean-the-Empire-is-inclined-to-spend-more-on-the-safety-of-their-troops.63.230.53.151 04:50, July 5, 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you, 63.230.53.151!!!! MY POINT EXACTLY! NEWER DON"T MEAN BETTER!!! Anakin Skyobiliviator 19:48, July 5, 2011 (UTC)
- Relax, there. Ease up on the caps lock. This is merely a discussion on armor quality, not something one should get so worked up over. Anyway, as Karo had pointed out, the quality of Phase I armor compared to stormtrooper armor depends on the source. Some sources (I can't recall exactly which off-hand) have demonstrated stormtrooper armor as being quite flimsy, whereas others had depicted it to be rather durable. I mostly see this inconsistency in comic sources. Trak Nar Ramble on 09:14, July 6, 2011 (UTC)
- I don't see what all the fuss is about. The article explains it perfectly. It's the insulation incorporated into the body glove of the stormtrooper armor that affords it it's superior ballistics capabilty, by absorbing blaster bolt "shock" and giving the trooper a higher chance of survival.1.148.3.4 12:13, July 6, 2011 (UTC)
- Have anyone read the new essential guide of weapon and technology? I don't own it but I remember that it said in the stats that Phrase 1 block more type of damage than stromtrooper armor!
