Is there a source anywhere that names the number before the Great Jedi Purge? —Unsigned comment by 67.244.27.92 (talk • contribs).
- Yes... yes there is. 10,000 in 32 BBY (the time of The Phantom Menace) and I think it was 8,000 ten years later (the start of the Clone Wars)... gahhhhhh I can't remember what the actual sources are that state this. Somebody help me. Menkooroo (talk) 17:00, November 10, 2012 (UTC)
- In Star Wars Episode I: The Visual Dictionary (page 11) it is stated that "of the teeming trillions of species that populate the galaxy, very few individuals become full fledged Jedi Knights: the ranks based on Coruscant number only about 10,000." At the time of Attack of the Clones, the Star Wars Adventures Magazine 3 (page 5) has the Jedi "still in the thousands, but there are severe losses at Geonosis." The AOTC novel by R. A. Salvatore says that "Obi-Wan, like the majority of the ten thousand Jedi, was a Knight [...]" I think that Star Wars: Attack of the Clones: The Visual Dictionary gives a total number of 9,000, but my copy of that book is packed away at the moment. --LelalMekha (talk) 18:40, November 10, 2012 (UTC)
- Yup, AotC:TVD - page 27: "More than 9,000 fully trained Jedi are scattered throughout the galaxy, with further 200 available at Jedi Temple for emergency missions." --Jedi Marty (talk) 12:23, November 11, 2012 (UTC)
- For curiosity's sake, sources say that around 200 Jedi survived Order 66. Meaning that, on that one day, 98% of the Order was killed. — DigiFluid(Whine here) 14:37, November 11, 2012 (UTC)

- Interesting that we have a figure of 200 as surviving Order 66. I just checked our Great Jedi Purge page, we I count 177 Jedi (if we include Padawans) who survived. Wonder if that 200 figure will stand... ~Savage 23:32, November 12, 2012 (UTC)
- I don't think it was 200 exactly; one of the pages (damned if I can remember which now) said that it was 'closer to 200 than 100' or something to that effect. Which agrees nicely with the count you've posted here. — DigiFluid(Whine here) 04:49, November 13, 2012 (UTC)
