Pardon if this question is Noobish or in the wrong forum. However I've been a fan of Starwars for sometime, and I am curious to know what the offical Pronounciation of the name "Kuat" As in "Kuat of Kuat" I was never good with reading names and I am often told different things, such as "Cot" or "Q-at"
Any help is appricited. Thanks.
- If I remember right, in Empire at War they pronounced it "COO-awt". That's how I've always pronounced it anyways. Problem with pronunciation is that we'll never know for sure how the creators intended it to be pronounced until a movie, TV show, audio drama, or video game says it, and even then it's by no means definitive (take Twi'lek: pronounced Twy'lek and Twee'lek in the same arc of The Clone Wars). Unless of course you listen to the audiobooks, which unless the author is the narrator, then I don't have much faith in as a source. In the case of Kuat, it's been pronounced in Empire at War, and possibly Bounty Hunter (for the Gamecube), and may yet appear in The Clone Wars. No I belive it is pronouced KOO-at.
- Well I always use COO-art, which I've heard multiple times in things here and there. SoresuMakashi(Everything I tell you is the truth) 07:52, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
I would have to agree with Koo-at. It seems much better. As for The Twi'lek reference, The essential guide to Species claims it's Twi'lek. Where as the Skagoan Leader refers to them as "Twee-leks" I simply believe thats just one of those "I say tomato, you say "Tamada" kind of deals. =p. I've never heard the Kuat family refered to as "Coo-art" in any star wars form, club or group I've spoken with. Thanks for your response though.
- Moving into the Twi'lek discussion, the Aleph-class starfighter is nicknamed Twee due to its resemblance to Twi'lek headtails. So there are different "correct" pronounciations for certain words. SoresuMakashi(Everything I tell you is a lie) 10:23, November 12, 2009 (UTC)
