Hi everyone. Most people here don't know this, but several years ago Wookieepedia had a podcast called Wookiee-Cast. It only lasted 11 episodes, and only took place in 2007. I am preparing to bring this podcast back, with the slightly re-branded name of WookieeCast. Wookieepedia is by far one of the largest Star Wars fan sites on the web, with a reach of over 100,000 visitors per day. There is a built-in audience that loves Wookieepedia and its coverage of Star Wars; look no further than the 68,000+ people who organically clicked "Like" on the Wookieepedia Facebook page, and the great fan engagement that the Facebook page gets. If Wookieepedia had an active podcast, and it's prominently displayed for fans to find, there would be a huge audience for it.
Topics would range from episodes discussing the latest canonical releases, to episodes discussing stories from the Expanded Universe. For example, when new canon books and comics are released, we can have episodes discussing those comics. We can also discuss the latest Rebels episodes. That allows WookieeCast to remain current, and for people to tune in to see what the community thinks about new releases. When we're not discussing the latest releases, though, we would be discussing topics from the Expanded Universe, particularly novels, comics, and games. That allows us to also tap into the large Legends fanbase, remaining current with canon but also having roots in the EU—much like Wookieepedia itself. Those topics mean we have a broad show, with episodes for everyone.
Ideally, we would also be able to do interviews with Star Wars talent/celebrities. If we launch soon enough, we can also do special edition shows at Celebration Anaheim this April. My hope is that we could get some celebrities for those shows as well.
There are a number of places we can post WookieeCast as well. Obviously iTunes is a big one, since podcasts are big on iTunes. We could also post them on YouTube (without video, of course). I believe that, with the right file type, we could also host them directly here on Wookieepedia.
I have two questions for those of you reading this:
- What other topics do you think audiences would be interested in?
- Are you interested in being part of WookieeCast?
I've created two sections for those questions below. I'm looking forward to hearing what you think about a new WookieeCast! - Brandon Rhea(talk) 02:08, February 2, 2015 (UTC)

What other topics do you think audiences would be interested in?[]
- The latest updates on what's new on Wookieepedia; interviews or roundtables with Wookieepedia editors; perhaps even philosophical discussions based on Star Wars from time to time? ProfessorTofty (talk) 03:12, February 2, 2015 (UTC)
- When covering new canon material people might appreciate hearing things from legends which have been brought back into canon, for example Tarkin brought back dozens of planets and even some of the Rebels supplementary stuff has included legends species and equipment. - I think people would definitely be interested in what's new in the Star Wars universe. We could also use it to show off some of our status articles, and I'm sure some people would be interested in hearing details about how Wookieepedia works. Supreme Emperor (talk) 17:00, February 4, 2015 (UTC)
- Perhaps we would like to cover upcoming events, and maybe discuss our newest acquisitions. - AV-6R7User talk:AV-6R7 05:10, February 5, 2015 (UTC)
Are you interested in being part of WookieeCast?[]
- Yeah, but if this going to be some sort of live show thing or something, I suspect it might not be possible for me to do. ProfessorTofty (talk) 03:12, February 2, 2015 (UTC)
- Definitely. Supreme Emperor (talk) 17:01, February 4, 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, though I would have to acquire the proper equipment in advance. - AV-6R7User talk:AV-6R7 05:08, February 5, 2015 (UTC)
General Discussion[]
- Maybe User:Thefourdotelipsis will come out of retirement and make a cameo appearance for continuity's sake. ;) Adamwankenobi (talk) 18:26, February 4, 2015 (UTC)
