I just discovered this. In a nutshell:
- All user talk pages will be replaced by a facebook-ish message wall.
- All user talk pages will be archived and removed.
- This will affect Monobook.
God help us. 1358 (Talk) 19:02, September 26, 2011 (UTC)
- Blast the stupid Wikia!! <Cal Jedi punches a hole in his wall> Isn't there someway that the admins can keep the changes out of Wookieepedia since we pretty much decide what is going to affect Monobook anyway? I dread the thought of all this changing. I hope that the admins can prevent it from affecting Wookieepedia Monobook users.--Cal Jedi

- I think we should seriously consider finding a new host. OLIOSTER (talk) 19:20, September 26, 2011 (UTC)
At this point, I am firmly convinced that Wikia is actually a vast psychological experiment, trying to determine better ways to drive down the average age and IQ of the active members of an online community. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 01:06, September 27, 2011 (UTC)
- You seem to be right. We seem to be getting younger and younger users all the time. Pretty soon, we'll all be insane thanks to Wikia.--Cal Jedi

- I see nothing in the blog post saying that we have no choice in the matter. Perhaps they'll won't turn it on here if we show them community consensus against it? It's worth a shot. Master Jonathan — Jedi Council Chambers Tuesday, September 27, 2011, 02:43 UTC
- I'd certainly be willing to vote against it if someone starts a CT thread or something like that on it. --Cal Jedi

- (edit conflict) I've started a petition at Forum:CT:Petition to Wikia to leave user talk pages alone. Master Jonathan — Jedi Council Chambers Tuesday, September 27, 2011, 02:50 UTC

- I find this pretty hilarious. Blatant lying. 1358 (Talk) 05:30, September 27, 2011 (UTC)
- I think I'm gonna be sick. I mean if FB not good enough around here!? What the Hell is the matter on the internet?! I shudda taken my leave here since last October when they decided to switch skins.-Boba fett 32 22:06, October 30, 2011 (UTC)
- I fail to see how this will have a meaningful impact on operations in any particularly negative way. It seems to retain all the current functionality of user:talk pages, with more frequent notifications and automatic archiving. If that is incorrect, could you please explain how this is the Prophesied Doomsday that will Undo the World? SinisterSamurai 04:11, October 31, 2011 (UTC)
- 1: w:c:communitytest:Special:RecentChanges kinda speaks for itself. 2: Editing talk archives via bot will be... needlessly complicated, to say the least. 3: Job queue will be flooded. 4: Username changes will be a fugly mess. There are other reasons, that's just off the top of my head. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 04:31, October 31, 2011 (UTC)
This is like a bad Twilight Zone of internet. Everyone is gonna raise hell itself. Hell it's all over the world. People are realizing the chaos on this pitiful rock that's floating like a Gungan in space.-Boba fett 32 04:32, November 6, 2011 (UTC)

- Take your irrelevant nonsense elsewhere. --Imperialles 02:34, November 7, 2011 (UTC)
- It appears the message wall is soon going to be the least of your worries. Wikia is now planning to disable JavaScript customization, meaning quite a few of your templates (all infoboxes, for starters) would be rendered useless. As I'm aware that Wookieepedia heavily relies on such customizations, I figured I'd give you guys a heads up so you can begin making the necessary preparations, be it JS alternatives or just more Wikia fist-shakery. Cheers. Chagnew 15:41, November 9, 2011 (UTC)
- I hope that's just an extension for wikis that have abused javascript in some way. If that is going live on ALL wikis, I am hundred percent sure all wikis with at least some functionality will pack their bags and leave. 1358 (Talk) 15:45, November 9, 2011 (UTC)
- I'm amused how the first reaction is panic for every hint of change, when there's 0 indication that it would affect us in any way. But yes, it is interesting, thus I'll try keep an eye how it goes. (: –Tm_T (Talk) 15:57, November 9, 2011 (UTC)
- It pretty well sums up how much we trust Wikia. Maybe there's a good reason for that. Not that Wikia cares. (Thus reinforcing everyone's lack of trust. Funny how that works.) -- Darth Culator (Talk) 16:52, November 9, 2011 (UTC)
- One Facebook feature that would be nice is a "like" button, because I'd definitely "like" Culator's above statement. MasterFred

Appears like the javascript thing is only usable by staff, who can use it to disable javascript in an emergency. It won't affect us... for now. 1358 (Talk) 19:45, November 9, 2011 (UTC)
Well if there is by any chance of moving by that time of these changes I'm in.-Boba fett 32 02:33, November 12, 2011 (UTC)
