I'm wondering if there is any way to correct picture overlap without creating Big White Spaces in an article. I got into a discussion about this with Jack Nebulax after trying to move a YT-1300 pic. He says it created a Big White Space in the text on his computer. I've seen the same thing on my computer, but I figured it was better than having pictures overlapping text (ala Orade). The technique I've been trying is the word 'clear' inside double open and closed '{'.Tocneppil 02:30, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

  • I'm not seeing the picture overlap thing in Orade (tried Firefox and IE). It is better to let the text wrap around the pictures though, like most all print media does. You may have spread the pictures out more. Putting them one alternate sides (right, left, right, etc) helps too. -Finlayson 02:51, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
    • Okay, it's there on my computer . . . How about the two small pics overlapping 'Appearances' at the bottom of Otana? And text-wrapping was part of the discussion I was having with Jack Nebulax. Is there a way to do that?Tocneppil 03:06, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
      • Text wraps around images by default (or should). I only see 1 image near Appearances. I moved it up a little so it would not move the Appeances label. -Finlayson 03:16, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
        • I get both the Ventral view of the Otana and the Otana & ISD side-by-side -and they're both covering the 'Appearances' heading now. Try moving them down.Tocneppil 03:40, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
          • I've also noticed it on the Rodian page -the double column for clans is overlapped by the pic of the Rodian wielding the knife.Tocneppil 04:06, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
            • Page distortion is always a problem when designing web pages because people surf the web using different screen resolutions. Unfortunately, using the {{clear}} template (the equivalent of the HTML statement: <br style="clear:both" />) is not a good solution to the problem because it may remove the white space for one user, but it will inevitably screw up the page for someone else.–SentryTalk 06:08, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
              • Stang. What can we do if there is an overlap? Report it?Tocneppil 06:51, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
                • All you can really do is make the image smaller and try to move it into the center of a block of text so that it will look good at every resolution.–SentryTalk 07:07, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
                  • Oy! That's how I got into this in the first place -adding stuff to the YT-1300 page. :PTocneppil 07:18, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
