The timeline says that in 2,000,000 BBY the Columi achieve interstellar travel. Yet in 100,000 BBY they acheive space travel and begin visiting other worlds. If the latter means they invented hyperdrives, then okay, except that contradicts the Rakata having done so 50,000 years later. So, which article is wrong? Or is there some nuance between interstellar travel and space travel that I'm not aware of?DarthMRN 08:32, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

  • The 2 million BBY date is apparently conjecture based on Galaxy Guide 4: Alien Races from the usually accurate Star Wars Timeline Gold: however, this seems to be based on the principle that the Columi were among the first to evolve intelligence, and developed interstellar spaceflight very quickly, since the date isn't specified in GG4. However, The New Essential Chronology gives the later date, and that's canonical. As for the Rakata, it seems as though the two species deveoped interstellar travel independently, possibly using different methods (recall the Rakata used the Force as part of their hyperdrives.)—Silly Dan (talk) 13:21, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
    • It should also be noted that the Columi are never said to have developed *superluminal* travel, just interstellar travel. They might well have used relativistic realspace drives and/or sleeper or generational ships. jSarek 13:42, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
