Forums > Senate Hall archive > SH Archive/Dumb Question: Using Userpage as Personal Sandbox?

Occasionally, when I wanna futz around with WikiCode and test templates out, I'll do that on my Userpage. I don't save the changes, unless what I was trying out is something I actually want on the page. When I read through the Userpage policy guidelines, I didn't really see anything about not using my Userpage as a personal proving ground, so I assumed that doing so was alright. Latly, the only real testing I've done was fiddle with Infoboxes, sections, basic coding, and adding of sub-pages. It's just to get accustomed to using the WikiCode, as coding has always been a difficulty for me.

So, I'm asking... is that okay that I use my Userpage as a personal Jundland Wastes? It just is more convenient for me to do so, and if whatever testing I do comes up looking atrocious in the preview, I'm not gonna save the changes. I've learned a long time ago from web-design horrors to Preview my changes before I save. =P

...I need to stop rambling. Lol, my blog is aptly named-- gah, Trak, shut up. >.<; Anywho, yeah. Is it okay to use Userpages as personal proving grounds? Trak Nar 23:42, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

  • Provided it doesn't violate any other Wookieepedia policies, such as the fanon or WP:NOT policy (i.e. no pornfests, personal attacks, or NSFW material on userpage), it should be fine. Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 23:48, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
    • Cool. Good to know. Thanks! Trak Nar 00:00, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
      • Also, a suggestion. Be careful when testing things that may add automatic categories to your Userpage that are really meant for Mainspace articles. For example, if you add a quote to your Usuerpage but you don't source it, your Userpage will go automatically into the "Articles with unsourced quotes" category. And well, that cat is meant fot Mainspace articles only, not for Userpages which may contain homorous or out of univers quotes and stuff. Just thought that could be of help. • Ooh, good point. I'll definetly keep that in mind. Something similar was mentioned on another user's Talk page in regards to putting copies of articles on subpages to work on 'em, and how a colon should be put between the brackets and "Category." Immediatly, I went to my subpage and edited my copy so that it wouldn't show up on any Category pages. Trak Nar 02:34, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
