Do we really need to know that:

The word "rana" means literally in Spanish "frog"
"Almák" in Hungarian means "apples"

And some of them are really reaching...

"Velasco" is a Spanish family name (in the Belasco article)
The word "excavar", pronounced Escabar, is Spanish for the verb "to dig".
Aquella is Spanish feminine personal pronoun for "that". The spanish word is pronounced /a'keya/.
"Ay", or even "Ayy", is a Spanish onomatopoeia for pain (as in "Ouch"). (in the Ayy Vida article)
The Word "gente" means literally "people" in spanish. Gentes would be an archaic (currently incorrect) plural form of it. (in the Gentes article)

Some are interesting though...

"verga" is a vulgar Spanish word for "penis" (Verga Mer Mining Company article)

These are popping up in BTS sections of articles all over the wiki. Are they really necessary? Ok, some of these references to other languages may have been deliberate, but I'm guessing in most cases, the author wasn't even aware of this.

I've always thought they were silly. They should be dropped unless we know or have strong reason to believe the reference was intentional (e.g. Boc Aseca and Peccati Syn). jSarek 08:36, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

    - Like lower-case-j said, the translation should only be noted if it's relevant to the character's backstory, personality, etc; for example, Vader meaning "father" in Dutch is notable, Almak meaning "apples" in Hungarian is not. —MarcK [talk] 02:08, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
