- "Fruit always tastes nice when it's ripe. But it can't stay like that. Every nice piece of fruit will rot on the branch if it hangs there long enough."
- ―Glen Taffral
Fruits were a popular type of food in the galaxy. They were eaten raw or cooked in dishes and were considered a treat and a priced delicacy during times of war.[10] Fruit contained seeds[8] and grew on trees[5] and plants.[11] A much loved dish was jogan fruitcake, which called for the main ingredient, jogan fruit, to be both baked in the batter and used as a topping.[10] Fruit could also be dried and eaten as a snack.[9] A proverb used by the time of[11] 232 BBY[12] went "the plant that stays hidden in the soil never bears delicious fruit."[11]
Fruit could be used as a non-lethal weapon; when the First Order occupied the refueling station Colossus, the local residents protested by pelting the stormtroopers with fruit at the marketplace.[13]
