A fusion generator was a type of ubiquitous reactor core that provided power to starships.
Characteristics[]
During the New Sith Wars, some cultures constructed generators so small that could be carried in backpacks. In later ages, such as the Imperial Period, such technologies had been forgotten and had to make do with bigger sizes.[1]
The most popular source of starship power, cold-ionization fusion reactors fused matter at room temperature, creating massive amounts of energy without emitting large amounts of heat.[2] The fusion reactor then sent the energy it generated to cryogenic power cells for storage.[2] Fusion reactors were a necessity for propelling large starships through hyperdrive.[2][3][4]
Power droids were ambulatory fusion generators.[5] The Star of Coruscant was powered by a fusion reactor.
