The Galactic Courts was a series of courts that were created by the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. They were charged with watching for government abuse and corruption. Even though the courts were not particularly speedy, The Courts proved much more effective than those of the Old Republic and New Republic.[1]
The highest of the Galactic Courts was the Supreme Court, with its twelve members appointed by the Triumvirate and confirmed by the Galactic Senate.[1]
Under the Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire, the Courts remained intact for criminal prosecutions and civil mediation, but were stripped of their powers to oversee the government.[1]
