- "Greetings, galactic explorers! You have made a wise choice in selecting this guide for your journey. Books are rare across the galaxy, and this one is rarer still. It combines the wisdom and experience of pirate and princess, merchant and mercenary, Darth and droid in one extraordinary volume of planetary lore. As my sweet mother used it say, it's wise to know what you don't know."
- ―Hondo Ohnaka, in the Galactic Explorer's Guide
The Galactic Explorer's Guide was a travel guide written by the Weequay pirate Hondo Ohnaka, with additional commentary by his RA-7 protocol droid DK-RA-43. Published after the[1] 34 ABY[2] destruction of Starkiller Base, the book compiled information on the history, wildlife, inhabitants, and landmarks of several planets and moons in the galaxy. In addition to text, the Galactic Explorer's Guide included additional information accessible through the use of a holoscanner.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The Galactic Explorer's Guide was mentioned in the 2019 reference book Star Wars: The Galactic Explorer's Guide, written by Jason Fry and was the in-universe equivalent of the book. The "holoscanner" features of the book were simulated through the Star Wars AR Book Holoscanner mobile application.[1]
