Galaxy of Fear: Clones is the eleventh book in the young readers Star Wars: Galaxy of Fear series.

Publisher's summary[]

In the Ruins of an abandoned Jedi Fortress on the remote planet Dantooine, Tash Arranda stands, all alone. At least, she thinks she's alone. She senses something in the ruins — Something Dark.

The darkness is stronger than Tash, and Against her will, she reaches out to it. It makes her feel powerful. And it frightens her. Tash doesn't know that this is only the beginning of a terrifying journey into an evil world, where she'll be forced to fight her own brother and uncle .... to the death!

Plot summary[]

A visit to Dantooine causes Tash to reflect upon her Force sensitivity and fret about her tendency to embrace anger and the dark side. The Arrandas and Hoole make a bizarre discovery amid some ancient Jedi ruins – an entire camp of cloned Rebels living in the remains of a Rebel base led by a clone of Darth Vader. The ancient Jedi ruins conceal advanced cloning technology that can rapidly duplicate people, and Tash, Zak, and Hoole all must face copies of one another before they scape the nightmarish scenario, aided by the real Darth Vader who destroys his own doppelgänger. Though the trio escaped, they have once again raised the ire of Vader.

Continuity[]

One of the toughest stories to reconcile with ongoing continuity, Clones introduced an extremely advanced form of cloning that outpaced all others depicted elsewhere. The ruins of Dantooine were shown in active use in the Tales of the Jedi and Knights of the Old Republic comics, but there were no indication of any cloning technology in use during that era. Vader captured the cloning tech for the Emperor by the end of Clones, but it never surfaced again. Also unanswered is why a clone of Vader would resemble a man who was mostly artificial.[1]
