Garqi vert-mites were a type of mite that partially shared its name with Garqi,[1] an agriworld in the Cassandran Worlds.[2] In 19 ABY,[3] Imperial commandos Chik Apla and Chala Venan prepared to sabotage the Wedding of Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade on[1] the planet[3] Coruscant. When caught hiding in nearby foliage by an employee of the venue, the pair claimed they were spraying for Garqi vert-mites inadvertently brought into the gardens by a tourist. After expounding on how they felt the creatures were fast and annoying due to the mite-dust they left behind, the employee believed their claims and left.[1]

Garqi vert-mites were mentioned in second issue of the comic-book Star Wars: Union, which was written by Michael Stackpole and published by Dark Horse Comics[1] on December 8, 1999.[4]
