"Thus we are all sent back to our kennels"
―Geist[src]

Geist was a male Human serving as a Moff in the Galactic Empire at the time of the Second Imperial Civil War. He was also the topmost official in the Imperial Army.

Biography

"We have less real power than we did under Fel."
―Moff Geist[src]

Geist was one of the hardliner members of the Moff Council and the head of the Imperial Army. He opposed the Victory Without War program followed by Emperor Roan Fel, preferring war and conquest over the peacefulness of the Imperial Mission. In addition, he opposed High Moff Morlish Veed's attempt to become Emperor.

Geist supported the Sith-Imperial War and the alliance of the Fel Empire with the One Sith as a way for the Moffs to regain the power they had during the Imperial Remnant. He was tired of being constantly played against his fellow Moffs by Fel and his political games.

Geist was present when Darth Krayt executed a coup against the man who sat on the Coruscant throne named himself Emperor.

Seven years later, Geist was present for a meeting of the Moff Council when they were informed by Darth Maladi that the hunt for Cade Skywalker had been called off. There, he voiced his frustration at being forced to report to Emperor Krayt's Sith Lords, comparing the Council to a pack of attack dogs being sent back to their kennels. He also voiced his suspicions that Moff Konrad Rus was a spy for Fel.

Following the ascent of Morlish Veed to the rank of Regent, Geist was present in a meeting of the Council in which Veed announced Operation: Thunderstroke, an attack on a meeting between Roan Fel and members of the New Jedi Order with the goal of capturing Fel for a public trial and execution.

While Operation: Thunderstroke was underway, Geist joined Darth Stryfe and Admiral Krion Grail aboard the Relentless, flagship of the Outer Rim Third Fleet. The Relentless was sent to the planet Dac to confront the Galactic Alliance Remnant Core Fleet. Dac had been infected with viral spores that would eliminate all life within seven days as part of the Final Protocol. Moff Geist considered the trap to be a chance to capture or destroy the Imperious-class Star Destroyer Alliance as well as Admiral Gar Stazi; however, Lord Stryfe countered that Lord Wyyrlok's prime directive was the extinction of the Mon Calamari species.

As the battle progressed, the Relentless and the Third Fleet suffered heavy damage. Stryfe ordered the fleet to intercept the Evacuation fleet leaving Dac, much to Geist's opposition. However, Stryfe silenced Geist by threatening him physically. The Alliance and the remnant fleet put itself between Sith Imperial fire and the evacuation ships, resisting enemy fire. However, a Fel-loyalist strikeforce under the command of General Oron Jaeger jumped out of hyperspace to aid Admiral Stazi. As the Relentless suffered attacks from both Stazi and Jaeger's ships, Geist convinced the fanatical Stryfe to withdraw and deprive the enemy of the joy of destroying them. Lord Stryfe accepted's Geist's reasoning and ordered the fleet to leave.

Personality and traits

Moff Council

"Never had any use for Rus or his Imperial Mission. 'Victory Without War.' What's the point of that?"
―Geist[src]

Like his predecessors in the Army of the First Galactic Empire, Geist was a hardliner and conservative militarist who longed for the times in which the Empire spread its influence by force of arms instead of the more subtle way of the Victory Without War Program of Emperor Jagged Fel. His favorite tactics were to threaten and to intimidate his opponent. He was ambitious like his fellow Moffs, though he lacked the political acumen and talent for manipulation of Nyna Calixte.

Behind the scenes

"Geist" is the German word for "ghost", "mind" or "spirit".
