Gesh's Tapcafe was a tapcafe in Jedha City on the moon Jedha. It was owned by Gesh,[2] a descendant of Belloq, whose name the old cafe had previously shared[3] when it was known as Bar Belloq[4] and Cafe Belloq,[5] with Bar Belloq still being written on the sign.[4] In 1 BBY,[1] it was bombed by insurgents targeting Imperial personnel, resulting in over a dozen deaths and multiple injuries.[2] The establishment was then obliterated shortly after when the Galactic Empire destroyed all of Jedha City with the Death Star superweapon.[6]
Behind the scenes[]
Gesh's Tapcafe was created for the film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,[6] which was released on December 15, 2016.[7] Prior to the film's release, it was revealed in the film's teaser trailer, which was posted on April 7, 2016. In the trailer, a shot shows a sign naming the bar as Bar Belloq in aurebesh;[4] however, this shot did not make it into the final film where the establishment goes unnamed.[6] Pablo Hidalgo gave the tapcafe's proper name[3] for the first time in Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide, a reference book released alongside the film.[2] Hidalgo created the name in reference to[3] the Decraniated that can be seen inside, who had been known as "Headless Gesihas" during production.[8] Hidalgo later clarified that Gesh's Tapcafe was the establishment seen in the film and provided explanation for the alternate names,[3] also calling the building Cafe Belloq, on Twitter on September 23, 2023.[5]

Well, 'currently' at least until the moon is blasted." (original link is obsolete)
