The glim worm was a burrowing predator covered with knife-like scales, present on many planets.
Biology and appearance[]
Its highly complex musculature allowed it to flow across different environments. It could move at 40 kilometers per hour in loose soil and 30 kilometers per hour on the surface. They hunted by burrowing a meter under the ground and sensing the vibration of their prey on the surface.[1] This same musculature was used to extend its scales to spear prey; additionally, a gluey compound produced by glands just under the scales would further impede movement of its quarry. After spearing its meal, the glim worm uses its muscles to move the captured prey from scale to scale into its mouth, where it was eaten whole.
Glim worms were found in groups of 3 to 4 individuals and reproduced by laying a cache of 12 to 16 eggs per year.[1]
History[]
The glime worm was mostly harmless to Humans and used for the skin and meat. Their slime could be made in an inexpensive and weak adhesive.[1]
