- "It is the proudest duty of a trooper to serve and seek a good death."
- ―Glorii Profus
Glorii Profus was a male Kaminoan who participated in the training of the Grand Army of the Republic, cloned from bounty hunter Jango Fett's DNA on the planet Kamino. Profus served as a mentop—a combination psychiatric and spiritual adviser—to many clone troopers, including Advanced Recon Commando Alpha-98's cohort. He taught the clone troopers not to be afraid of death, giving a ritualistic speech to clone troopers departing to fight in the Clone Wars and toasting with a cup of the finest Tallian wine in the quadrant. His words comforted numerous clones before they marched to battle, and A-98 fondly remembered Profus' teachings.[1]
Personality and traits
- "From water you are born. In fire you die. Your bodies seed the stars."
"We seed the stars!" - ―Profus and the clone troopers, reciting the ritual words
Profus was a silver-skinned Kaminoan, with a long and gracefully arched neck. His voice was cultured and comforting as he gave his speech to the clones, saying that their bodies seed the stars after their deaths. Profus taught the troopers that their proudest duty was to die a good death.[1]
Behind the scenes
Glorii Profus was briefly mentioned in The Cestus Deception, a 2004 novel by Steven Barnes. In 2008, Profus received an entry in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia. Profus' entry addressed him as "mentor," indicating that The Cestus Deception's position of "mentop" may have been a spelling mistake. However, The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia also includes an entry for "mentop."
