Goatgrass salad was a mainstay staple of the Gran species' diet. The salad consisted of fragrant goatgrass tossed with Malastarian croutons, a houjix cheese crumble, and three-eyed Kinyenian potatoes.[1] Prior to its destruction during the first two years of the Galactic Empire's reign,[2] the restaurant Dex's Diner on the planet Coruscant served the salad, where it could be purchased for 4.5 credits. The diner's Besalisk owner, Dexter Jettster, wrote in the menu that goatgrass salad was suitable for anyone wanting a light meal.[1]

Goatgrass salad was introduced in "Dining at Dex's," a 2009 Hyperspace-exclusive article which was written by Gregory Walker and formatted as an in-universe menu.[1]
