Gold Squadron was a Republic starfighter squadron active during the Clone Wars. During the early stages of the conflict, Gold Squadron's clone pilots flew V-19 Torrent starfighters. Later, during the Clone Wars, Gold Squadron pilots flew Eta-2 Actis-class interceptors and Aggressive ReConnaissance-170 starfighters.

Gold Squadron fought in the Battle of Muunilinst, under the command of Anakin Skywalker. During the battle, Gold Leader was destroyed by enemy Nantex starfighters, though the campaign was ultimately successful. Later, the squadron was restructured it, and it fought at the battle over Kothlis and the Battle of Rendili.

A flight of Jedi Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptors was organized as Gold Squadron in 22 BBY. They arrived from hyperspace at Coruscant to take part in the defense of the Galactic Senate. Jedi Master Yoda ordered them to concentrate on the Subjugator. The flight helped take down its shields.[2]

During the latter stages of the Clone Wars, Gold Squadron was outfitted with Eta-2 Actis-class interceptors and commanded by Jedi General Saesee Tiin. During the Battle of Boz Pity, Tiin led Gold Squadron out of Intervention's hangar and into combat against a Providence-class cruiser above Boz Pity, in a diversionary tactic that gave Obi-Wan Kenobi's strike team time to land on the planet and track down Asajj Ventress.

Behind the scenes[]

A pilot named "Gold Six" is mentioned in the sound that plays while the Lucasfilm Ltd. logo is displayed at the opening of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars film. This snippet does not tie in to the film's storyline. However, the line was later used in the episode, Downfall of a Droid.

Notes and references[]

  1. Characters in "Heroes on Both Sides" say that Coruscant had not been attacked before then. As there is an attack on Coruscant in Kinect Star Wars it must therefore take place after that in the Clone Wars.
