Gonkrock,[1] also spelled gonk rock,[2] or gonk-rock,[3] was a loud and aggressive music genre originating from Nar Shaddaa. It gained its name from music groups running their amplifiers through GNK-series power droids.[1] The Bormea sector was home to many gonk-rock venues that featured leading groups in the genre, although during the Imperial Era, these venues were routinely raided and closed due to violating artistic standards set by the Galactic Empire's Coalition for Progress.[3] Prior to becoming a Hunter in the Grand Arena on Vespaara, Rieve played in a gonkrock band named Corellia's Not Dead. Other notable gonkrock bands included Good Clone/Bad Clone and Fall of the Empire.[1]
