- "The Empire outsourced the mining of hyperbarides beneath the crust of Goroth Prime to various subsidiary organizations in 10 BBY. The minerals themselves were highly radioactive and the use of native Gorothites as forced labor led to many of them being horribly exposed. The damage both to them and the planet was disastrous."
- ―Beaumont Kin, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire
The Gorothites were the native inhabitants of the planet Goroth Prime. In 10 BBY, the Galactic Empire outsourced the mining of highly radioactive hyperbarides beneath Goroth Prime's crust to several of its subsidiaries who used the Gorothites as forced labor. This resulted in many of the natives being heavily exposed to the radiation and resulted in disastrous amounts of damage to them and their homeworld. The historian Beaumont Kin mentioned the Imperial treatment of the Gorothites in[1] his[2] book The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire[1] in 35 ABY.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
In the current Star Wars canon, Gorothites were mentioned in the 2024 reference book Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, which was written by Chris Kempshall.[1] The Gorothites originated as a species in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in Goroth: Slave of the Empire, a 1995 adventure for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game written by Nigel D. Findley and published by West End Games.[4]

- ↑ Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire states that thirty years have passed since the end of the Galactic Civil War and months have passed since the Battle of Exegol. As Star Wars: Timelines dates the end of the war to 5 ABY and the Battle of Exegol to 35 ABY, the in-universe The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire must have been published in 35 ABY.
