Governor of Theed was a title given to the governor of Theed, the capital city of the planet Naboo,[3] ruled by the Royal House of Naboo.[2] During Queen Padmé Amidala's coronation in 32 BBY,[1] the governor, along with the Naboo Royal Advisory Council, closed the Palace Plaza to allow the Volunteer Security Forces Parade and March to take place. The Governor of Theed was mentioned in A History of Persuasive Art in the Galaxy, a book that looked at the use of propaganda by various factions,[3] released around 34 ABY.[4]
Behind the scenes[]
The Governor of Theed was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon by the 2016 reference book Star Wars Propaganda: A History of Persuasive Art in the Galaxy written by Pablo Hidalgo.[3] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Governor of Theed was first mentioned by the junior novelization of the prequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace,[5] released on May 19, 1999.[6] The novelization was authored by Patricia C. Wrede[5] and published prior to the film's release on May 3 of that year.[7]

Notes and references[]
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates the Invasion of Naboo to 32 BBY. Queen's Peril establishes that Padmé Amidala became Queen of Naboo months before the invasion and in the same year, dating her coronation to 32 BBY. Star Wars Propaganda: A History of Persuasive Art in the Galaxy claims that the Volunteer Security Forces Parade and March occured concurrent to the coronation, placing it in 32 BBY.
- ↑ 2.0 2.1 Queen's Shadow states that the Royal House of Naboo was the planetary government of Naboo. Since Star Wars Propaganda: A History of Persuasive Art in the Galaxy states that the Governor of Theed served the planet Naboo, the governor must have served the Royal House.
