- "Grand Marshal! What's going on?"
"We don't know. All communications with the outside are down. Something is interfering with all our operations…" - ―Queen Trios and the Grand Marshal
Grand Marshal was a military rank used by the Kingdom of Shu-Torun and within the First Order. In the armed forces of the First Order, the rank was comparable to the rank of Allegiant General.
Description[]
Grand Marshal was a military rank within the Kingdom of Shu-Torun and the First Order. In Shu-Torun, the Grand Marshal reported to the Queen on security matters.[1] In the armed forces of the First Order, the rank of Grand Marshal was above that of General and comparable to the rank of Allegiant General. Both ranks allowed the officer to command both space and ground assets.[2]
History[]
The title existed in the Kingdom of Shu-Torun during the Imperial Era,[1] by around 2 ABY.[3] An individual held the title during a Rebel Alliance mission to Shu-Torun and reported to Queen Trios when the planet's security systems were locked down by an Alliance team led by Leia Organa.[1]
During the New Republic Era, First Order General Armitage Hux desired to be a Grand Marshal, given that his authority effectively exceeded his rank in the First Order at the time. Supreme Leader Snoke, however, refused to grant Hux the title.[4] By 35 ABY, when Allegiant General Enric Pryde of the second wave of First Order leadership came to the fore of First Order High Command after being uncovered by the Supreme Leader ascendant Kylo Ren, Hux no longer sought the title of Grand Marshal, instead focusing his powers on vengeance against Ren.[2]
