The greater crested gundark was a particularly fierce variety[2] of the non-sentient[1] gundark species that was believed to have been extinct centuries before the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. The Trandoshan hunter Qyzen Fess disproved that belief when he tracked down and killed a greater crested gundark sometime around the Cold War, an act that earned him significant fame.[2]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The greater crested gundark was first mentioned in the Codex entry for Qyzen Fess in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a video game released by BioWare in 2011.[2] It was also mentioned in the game's 2012 reference guide Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia.[3]
