"I knew those Grey Shroud terrorists, and they seemed legit to me."
Jzoro Quanera, to a spacer[1]

The Grey Shroud terrorists were a group of terrorists active on Corellia during the Galactic Civil War.

History[]

After the Battle of Yavin, the Grey Shroud terrorists were based in the Thaos Mountains, near the city of Doaba Guerfel.[1] In 1 ABY,[2] CorSec agents led by Captain Vitala Baize assaulted the base and killed the Grey Shroud leader Ebela Puckett. The assault was part of a larger operation which aim was to infiltrate an agent among the criminal organization known as the Chirq Council. The true objective of the assault against the Grey Shroud was to demonstrate the loyalty of the agent to the Chirq Council. The CorSec agent pretended that Ebela Puckett was an informant tasked by the CorSec to spy the Council. With the support of manufactured evidences, the agent managed to convince the Chirq Council underboss Jzoro Quanera that this story was real and successfully infiltrated the organization.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The Grey Shroud terrorists appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[3] The Grey Shroud terrorists were added to the game with the update named "Chapter 1: The Corellian Captives," published on June 8, 2006.[4]

Notes and references[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 1.5 1.6 1.7 Star Wars Galaxies (post-NGE) — Legacy Quest: "The Chirq Council: Moving Up" on Corellia
  2. The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
