- "It will only be a matter of time before either the droids or my own… correction, Grey Squad tracks me down."
- ―Grey Squad's Jedi Knight
Grey Squad was a squad of[1] nine clone troopers that served in one of the Grand Army of the Republic's platoons[3] during the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Stationed on the[1] Outer Rim planet[4] Mustafar towards the end of the war, Grey Squad was led by a Jedi Knight,[1] a clone trooper sergeant, and a clone trooper corporal.[2]
Following the[1] activation of Order 66 by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine in 19 BBY,[5] Grey Squad turned on their Jedi leader and attempted to hunt him down. The Jedi Knight managed to elude Grey Squad's search, but wrote in a datapad that it was only a matter of time until the squad caught up to him. Preparing for the squad's eventual arrival, he hid most of his personal belongings in a chest for Jedi Master Yoda to find. The datapad describing Grey Squad's actions was later found by a group of spacers among the stolen goods of a bandit camp on Mustafar around[1] 1 ABY.[6]
Behind the scenes[]
Grey Squad was mentioned in "The Jedi's Guard Dog" quest from the Trials of Obi-Wan expansion for the Star Wars Galaxies video game, a massively multiplier online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts[1] on November 1, 2005.[7]

- ↑ Star Wars Galaxies: Trials of Obi-Wan establishes that the datapad found on the planet Mustafar by a group of spacers was over twenty years old. Since the datapad's entries described the events of Order 66, which Order 66: A Republic Commando Novel dates as having happened in the year 19 BBY, the datapad's discovery must have happened around 1 ABY.
