This article is about the tusked, two-horned animal from Naboo.
You may be looking for the tuskless guarlara or the triple-horned gualaar.

Gualamas were beautiful, herbivorous ungulates indigenous to the grassy plains of Naboo, also found on the moon Rori.

Biology and appearance[]

Gualamas were an herbivorous species from the planet Naboo. Their diet included wild grasses and flowers. The two horns on top of their head were upright and curved forward, and they had a pair of tusks, one each on either side of their mouths. They were quadrapedal with split hooves. A gualama's white fur was especially long at the ends of their single tail.[1]

They were similar to the gualaar and guarlara species, but smaller and less stocky. Predators included tusk cats.[source?]

Behavior[]

The tail of a gualama was expressive and used for communication. By pointing a front leg forward with an upraised tail fluffed out like an umbrella, a gualama could ask another, "Where is the nearest watering hole?" Some of the emotions conveyed through different positions were mourning or feeling threatened. In flight, their tails were raised like banners.[1]

Gualamas typically lived in herds centered around a single male that protected and cared for multiple females and young, with up to twenty-five individuals in one herd. As male colts reached maturity, they would be run off by their patriarch to find a mate of their own. Until then, they roamed alongside and wrestled with other newly-matured males.[1]

Queens of the Naboo people and their handmaidens had a royal herd of gualamas exclusively available for their use, guarded by tusk-cats. The royal herd was ridden during Theedside "Twirrling" parties.[1]
