Gwendoline Christie (born October 28, 1978) is an English actress and model who portrays First Order Captain Phasma in the 2015 film Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens.[2] Her involvement was first announced on June 2, 2014.[2] Christie later reprised the character in Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, in 2017.[3][4] She also voiced Phasma in the animated series Star Wars Resistance. Prior to Star Wars, Christie had gained recognition through her role as Brienne of Tarth in the HBO television series Game of Thrones[3] and appeared in The Hunger Games film Mockingjay – Part 2.[2]
