"From the little I picked up about Hakara, we don't even know if there are inhabitants."
Ahsoka Tano, to Anakin Skywalker[2]

Hakara was a swamp planet native to the insectoid Hakarans. It was previously believed to be uninhabited by the Galactic Republic.

History[]

"Long range planetary scans detected signs of civilization just beyond those trees."
Anakin Skywalker, to Ahsoka Tano[2]

During the Clone Wars, the Confederacy of Independent Systems had the Droid Army establish a base on the planet in order to scout it for valuable resources. This led to the native Hakarans send a distress signal to the Galactic Republic, however, their language was not known by the Jedi Order. Whilst they attempted to deciper the language, the Jedi Council dispatched Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan Ahsoka Tano to Hakara to discover the source of the distress signal.

Whilst scouting the swamps, they were unaware that the swarms of Hakarans were attempting to communicate with the Jedi who mistakenly believed them to be a non-intelligent native life form. However, when the swarms destroyed an attacking battle droid by attacking its neural processor - Ahsoka determined that they were intelligent. General Skywalker then communicated to the Hakarans by way of the Force and told them how to best combat the battle droids. This saw the Hakarans attack in large swarms and destroy the droids inhabiting the Confederate base on the planet.

Following the incident, Anakin Skywalker decided that the planet would be protected by the Jedi Order while an ambassador from the Republic would be dispatched to speak with the native Hakarans.
