This article covers a subject from a Star Wars: Visions story that Lucasfilm declared is set in an alternate history within a reimagined galaxy.

"We're playing, sir. A game is far more than a matter of victory. To play is to uncover a corner of a grander puzzle—that which comprises the entirety of the game itself, its history and its potential. I've brought you not because I wish to win but because I seek to understand a greater whole."
―Hanrai, playing shogi with the Ronin[1]

Hanrai was a male Jedi knight who became a Jedi lord after the planet Rei'izu disappeared in the wake of the Sith rebellion. He led his clan at his home estate on Watoru. As a Jedi, he was the master of numerous apprentices, including Yuehiro, Tsuden, and Ogara; however, his favored student was the individual who would later be known as the Traveler, formerly Idzuna.[1]
