4 Reasons Canto Bight Is an Essential Read on StarWars.com (backup link) states that Canto Bight takes place a few days prior to Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, which Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary places in the same year as the Starkiller Incident. Star Wars: Galactic Atlas places the Starkiller Incident in 34 ABY, meaning that both Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi and Canto Bight take place in the same year.
