A heating pedestal was a black device consisting of a small tray held by four supports over a convection bulb sat next to a small dial atop a wide base. One such device was owned by the Jedi-in-training Rey, who kept it on her workbench at the Resistance base on the moon Ajan Kloss.[1]

She used the equipment on the workbench to flex her mechanical skills, study the jedi texts and repair the Skywalker lightsaber by healing its kyber crystal.[1] In 35 ABY,[2] the pedastal was sat with the bulb lit on Rey's workbench when she was informed the YT-1300 light freighter known as the Millennium Falcon had returned to base.[3]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

A heating pedestal first appeared in the 2019 sequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker.[3] It was first identified in the accompanying reference book Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo.[1]

  2. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary dates the events of Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker to one year after the events of Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. As Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates the events of The Force Awakens to 34 ABY, the events of The Rise of Skywalker, which includes the appearance of the heating pedestal, must occur in 35 ABY.
