A Z-6 heavy rotary cannon
A heavy weapon was a personal weapon which required more than one crew member, often utilizing extra equipment such as tripod mounts and portable power generators. Heavy weapons were also known as infantry support weapons and light artillery pieces. Most heavy weapons were designed to be used by infantry and were easily transportable, with examples like the T-21 light repeating blaster being able to be carried by a single trooper. Some weapons were large enough to be mounted on repulsorlift trailers for mobility.[1]
Typically, a squad of soldiers were issued with at least one heavy weapon, such as a repeating blaster. Heavy weapons also included vehicle mounted weaponry, such as blaster cannons, mounted repeating blasters, missile launchers, and grenade launchers.[1]
