- "What about the escape pods?"
"As you ordered. All secured and ready to launch." - ―Raymus Antilles and Helfun Rumm
Helfun Rumm was the stalwart security officer of the Tantive IV, consular ship of Princess Leia Organa. After the corvette escaped from the Battle of Scarif with the Death Star plans in 0 BBY, Rumm reported to the ship's captain, Raymus Antilles, that the escape pods were all secure and ready to launch. The corvette was then captured by the Galactic Empire.
Biography[]
Helfun Rumm served as the security officer of the Tantive IV,[1] a CR90 corvette belonging to the Alderaanian House of Organa that served as the diplomatic consular ship of Princess Leia Organa. Organa used the ship on missions for the Alliance to Restore the Republic and, in 0 BBY,[2] it was being repaired[1] in the Alliance's headquarters[3] on the moon Yavin 4[4] when the vessel and its crew were assigned a routine mission to the planet Tatooine.[1] Before the repairs could be completed, the Alliance Fleet was scrambled to fight the Galactic Empire above the planet Scarif in an effort to steal[1] the plans for the Empire's Death Star superweapon.[3]
The still damaged Tantive IV was carried to the battle in one of the hangars of the Alliance flagship, the Profundity.[1] The rebels successfully transmitted the plans from Scarif to the Profundity, but the flagship was too damaged to escape and so the plans were brought aboard the Tantive IV, which launched from the Profundity and fled into hyperspace.[3] The ship's captain, Raymus Antilles, gave the order for the vessel's escape pods to be secured and made ready for launch, and while the corvette traveled through hyperspace toward the planet Tatooine, Rumm reported the pods' status to Antilles while they were both in the ship's operations section. The Tantive IV ultimately dropped out of hyperspace before reaching Tatooine,[1] and was captured by the Star Destroyer Devastator and boarded. All of its crew were either killed or taken into Imperial custody.[5]

Behind the scenes[]
Helfun Rumm appeared in "Raymus," a short story written by Gary Whitta and published as part of the From a Certain Point of View anthology[1] on October 3, 2017.[6] The eightheenth issue of De Agostini's Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine,[7] released around May 6, 2015,[8] and the 2021 reference book Star Wars: Battles that Changed the Galaxy stated that all of the Tantive IV's crew bar Organa were killed after it was captured;[9] however, the comic book Crimson Reign 3, which written by Charles Soule[10] and released on March 9, 2022,[11] revealed that atleast one other crew member had survived in Imperial custody. Therefore this article does not assume that Rumm was killed either.[10]
