Hethar was a planet annexed by the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War. It was the homeworld of gornts. Shredder bats could also be found on the planet. The rebel Homack encountered some while there monitoring an Imperial contingent on the planet.

Description[edit | edit source]

Gornts were native to Hethar.

Hethar was a planet which was home to the gornt species. These omnivores were squat ugly creatures, but they were a staple in the diet of the local colonists.[2] Predators known as shredder bats were also found on the planet; these creatures had spread to over a thousand worlds from their original homeworld Atrisia.[3]

History[edit | edit source]

During the Galactic Civil War, the Rebel Alliance sent a team to the planet to investigate an Imperial contingent stationed there. Having tailed the Imperial group, the team, led by the rebel Homack spent a night on the planet. While Homack was on night duty with three other Rebels, the party was attacked by shredder bats.[4] The creatures, known to hunt in packs, were armed with sharp fangs with which they tried to pierce their target's coronary arteries.[3] Homack and the sentries defeated the predators by activating some Merr-Sonn Excluders. These small sonic devices emitted waves of high frequency sound which scrambled the bats' senses, causing them to fall from the sky. The sentries were then able to kill the creatures without drawing Imperial attention, or even waking the other Rebels in the team. The bats were later enjoyed as breakfast the next day.[4]
