A heuristic processor was a type of processor that was used in droid brains and in starship systems during the Clone Wars and the Imperial Era.
Description[]
Heuristic processors were a type of computer processor that was used in droid brains[2] and in starship systems.[1]
History[]
During the Clone Wars they were used to engineer the droid brains of[2] the Phlac-Arphocc Automata Industries[3] droid tri-fighters.[2]
At some point before 3 ABY,[4] the Galactic Empire made them illegal. However they continued to be used in various starship systems and weapons such as a LC-60 laser cannon, a C-K12B rapid fire cannon, a C-10 plasburst cannon, a TU-C6 laser turret, T-350 torpedoes, M-1O4 ion missiles, and a S50C deflector shield.[1]
During 3 ABY,[4] various merchants in the galaxy were willing to sell the processors despite their illegal nature. These including the Twi'lek smuggler Sol D'lorak in Kijimi City, the weequay scavenger Heren Gallack in Jaunta's Hope, the human scavanger Otip Ashtep in Bestine, and the Twi'lek scavenger Koy Tuss on Achra Station. During the same year, at least two Jawas on Tatooine, Tretet Zadiket and Entip, were willing to trade for heuristic processors as well as a Rodian scavenger on Akiva named Namda Eaakee.[1]
Also during 3 ABY, the scoundrel Kay Vess used heuristic processors to upgrade her EML-850 light freighter, the Trailblazer.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Heuristic processors were first mentioned in the canon continuity in the 2018 reference book Star Wars: Complete Vehicles. They later appeared as inventory and upgrade items in the 2024 video game Star Wars Outlaws by Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft.[1]
