"You all right, pera?"
"Yes, my fi."
―Han Solo and Pera[1]

High Galactic was a Pre-Republic language which was later used to show respect for the clergy and the elite.

History[]

It was spoken by the colonists of Alsakan prior to 17,000 BBY. During the war between the Galactic Republic and the Tion Cluster it evolved its written form, the High Galactic alphabet.[2]

In later millennia, it was often used to show respect between members of the clergy and laymen. Sarcev Quest was fluent in High Galactic. It was also used as the language of the Imperial court and elite, as most officers from prestigious families were familiar with High Galactic.

Additionally, it was an ancient language used by the Jedi Order. An example of this usage would be many of the names of their lightsaber forms.

Its alphabet became an alternative to Aurebesh for written forms of Basic.

Derivatives[]

The natives of the planet Nyriaan spoke Nyriaanan, a language that was a mixture of High Galactic and Basic.[3]

Examples[]

Example words included:

  • Fi - male child
  • Pera - male parent

Behind the scenes[]

High Galactic was first mentioned in Marvel's Star Wars when Han Solo addressed an unnamed Verpine priest.
