Horaxes were a type of giant blue reptile native to the frozen[1] Outer Rim[2] world of Nelvaan. They had saber-sharp fangs and enormous horns. The tails of horaxes were covered in scales that young Nelvaanian villagers were tasked with acquiring as part of an initiation ritual. The scales could be used to make an elixir that was capable of repelling the beasts for an entire year.[1]

Horaxes were first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in the 2015 reference book Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know.[1] The reptile was originally created for "Chapter 22" of the Star Wars Legends television series Star Wars: Clone Wars,[3] which aired on March 22, 2005.[4]
