Howie Hammerman was a recording technician/audio and sound engineer for Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor.^[1]^[2]

Hammerman was notorious among the crew for his sonorous belches whenever drinking soda. Therefore he was the first sound source to look for for recording Jabba's burping sound.^[3] He also created the sarlacc's burp in Return of the Jedi as an uncredited crew member.^[4]
