"One of my drone-mates once gave me an excuse, listing the reasons they couldn't protect the queen when our nest was attacked by hueches."
―Jinnix[1]

By 252 BBY,[2] hueches carried out an attack on a Colicoid nest that included its queen, Jinnix, and his drone-mate. The drone-mate failed to protect the queen during the attack and afterward listed the reasons they had failed to do so to Jinnix, who saw the reasons as excuses and ripped off the drone-mate's head and ate their ganglia. While Jinnix was later serving as a Storm in the Nihil marauders, he recalled the attack on his nest by hueches when his Strike Towl made an excuse after not following an order.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Hueches were mentioned in flashbacks in The High Republic: Tempest Runner, a 2021 audio drama written by Cavan Scott and published as a part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[3] Phase I.[4] The spelling of their name name was later confirmed with the release of the audio drama's script in 2022.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, a hueche was a type of creature that was a predator of the Colicoid and appeared in a hologram in Millennium Falcon, a 2008 novel written by James Luceno.[5]

  2. Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of The High Republic: Tempest Runner to 231 BBY. Star Wars: Timelines establishes that Asgar Ro became Eye of the Nihil in 252 BBY and The High Republic: Eye of the Storm 1 depicts Lourna Dee as a member of the Nihil at this point. As Tempest Runner establishes that Dee joined the Nihil after the raid in the Abrion sector, the raid must have taken place by 252 BBY. The audio drama further states that the hueche attack occurred before the Abrion sector raid, therefore meaning it also took place by 252 BBY.
