Hydraulic control circuits, also known as HCCs, were a type of specialized energy distribution system.[1]

A throwback to an earlier era of shipbuilding, hydraulic control circuits used countless near microscopic transparisteel tubes filled with highly conductive liquid metal similar in composition to mercury; held under pressure and regulated by a series of valves, this metal controlled the flow of energy throughout the ship.[1] Ultimately bulky, antiquated, and hard to work with when compared to modern conductive composite wafer boards, the circuits were notable for their incredible resistance to the effects of ion weapons, leading some spacers to use the circuits despite their age and difficulty of use.[1]
